OVER 15000 FLOCK TO EDUCATION CARNIVAL AT UMP.pdf

Over 15,000 people thronged the National Higher Education Carnival, held for two days on March 20-21, 2010, at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in Kuantan, Pahang. Tagged “Jom Masuk U”, the carnival saw lively participation from both public and private institutions of higher learning, government agencies and financial institutions, and an overwhelming response from would-be university students, especially those from out of town. Held at UMP’s Technology & Innovation Park from 9am to 6pm, there were over 100 exhibition booths for visitors – especially students, school leavers, parents and teachers – to stop over. According to UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr Daing Mohd Nasir Daing Ibrahim, the main objective of the carnival was to disseminate accurate information on and promote tertiary education opportunities in local institutions of higher learning. “The carnival is a One-Stop Centre as well as an annual Outreach Programme conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education to foster a closer tie and approach with the local community,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
