UMP GARNERS 6 MORE MEDALS AT SIFF 2009 TO CLOSE THE YEAR.pdf

UMP submitted six research and development (R&D) projects to the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF), held in Seoul, Korea, on December to – all of which won one gold medal, four silver and one bronze – leading up to a percent medal achievement at the world class competition late last year. A total of R&D projects were submitted from countries like Australia, German, Indonesia, Iran, Poland, Russia and Thailand, including from Malaysia alone. Dr Hayder A Abdul Bari from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Natural Resources took home the sole gold medal for UMP through his R&D project entitled “Atn]ek kb as ]n] lkiane n]c Naec ca Ie]ca bnki
kk] bneo S]oa bnki S]oa k Sa]” Meanwhile, all three projects from the Faculty of Industrial Science & Technology coveted three of the four silver medals – namely, “ki oseec ek nki]kcn]6 as aoec bkn Aenkia] Ikeknec” by Dr Muhammad Amin “Abbaea ] bbkn]a ]n] Naaa c]eo Ikoekao NAlAhh” by Dr Azhari Hamid Nour and “R]]a lanbian I]ane]6 a] oeia lna]n]ek kb Ia eokacak oec lkian ]oa ]]o” by Dr Benjamin Lukas. Dr Muhammad Nubli Abdul Wahab’s “ekbaa]6 as Pn]eec Pakkc bkn di] Kan]kno” from the university’s Centre of Modern Language & Social Science
brought back the fourth silver medal. UMP single bronze medal was the successful result of Mohammad Affendy Omardin’s project entitled “nane] eacn]a kiaoe S]oa S]an k]ca Naik] ooai”. Mohammad Affendy hailed from the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Earth Resources. These six medals were an incredible display of attainable success at the international level, where all of UMP’s R&D projects were duly recognized and accredited by world class professional juries. Such global exposure has also led the participating lecturers and researchers to receiving a multitude of positive input from other international participants, in their efforts to enhance the R&D products for worldwide commercialization.
